This unique wildlife sanctuary is just a few kilometers from Nairobi's bustling city center. Despite its proximity over 50 species of mammals can be found there, including four of the "Big Five". The park is one of Kenya's most successful rhino sanctuaries and sightings of Black Rhino are almost guaranteed.

The park has a rich and diverse range of birdlife with 400 species recorded, however all species are not always present and some are seasonal.

The Bamburi Nature Trail is a rehabilitation project on the site of Bamburi Portland Cement Company. The project began in 1971 by Dr Rene Haller who transformed Haller Park by increasing the mineral contents in the soil, portions of Haller Park were rehabilitated with a successful tree-planting effort, which now includes fish breeding and the establishment of a wildlife park.

Each animal has a function on the nature trails thriving ecosystem, some of the animals found within the Haller park sanctuary include; hippos, giraffes, cape buffalo, zebra and waterbucks, as well as more than 160 bird species have been introduced to the area including weaver birds, cranes, pelicans and storks.

Nairobi has many restaurants offering a wide variety of cuisine, but the most famous is probably Carnivore. The restaurant is famous for its succulent steaks and barbecue dishes, including game meat, and is therefore dubbed "the meat eaters" paradise.

The day starts early as you head south towards Tanzania. On the drive south you pass through the lush Coconut and Cashew Plantations which have thrived since the early days of settlement along the coast. As you drive by look at the coconut trees and you will see foot holds carved into the trunks. There are some trees as high as 60 feet or more. Imagine how many years these trees have been climbed for their bounty.

Soon you will pass through the colorful villages of the Digo Peoples. When you reach you destination of Shimoni you will board a motorized Lamu Dhow. Now the best part of the journey begins!

Set on the Kenyan plains with Mt Kilimanjaro as a backdrop in the distance, Amboseli is a "must-do" for most visitors to Kenya. The park is world-famous for its substantial population of African Elephants which can be seen in herds of over 100 individuals. In particular the large bull elephants have some of the largest tusks in the animal kingdom.

Also waiting to be spotted are ample herds of buffalo, wildebeest, zebra and impala, as well as giraffes and warthog. "The Lake Nakuru is a superficial strong alkaline lake of about 62 km2 wide. It is close to Nakuru Town giving a picturesque landscape of surrounding woodland and grassland. The Lake Nakuru landscape has diverse areas of marsh and grasslands whereby there are rocky cliffs and outcrops, stretches of acacia woodland and rocky hillsides covered with a Euphorbia forest on the eastern area" KWS.

The Lake Nakuru National Park has variety of attractions that illuminate the great picturesque landscape. These attractions are:

(1) The birds - the beauty of the Lake is mostly by the Flamingo and other water birds around 450 various species in total.


(2)Unique vegetation - there are about 550 different plant species such as yellow acacia woodlands among others.


(3) The Waterfalls - there are waterfalls such as Makalia


(4)The Hills - There are different hills such as Enasoit, Honeymoon, Lion hill ridge etc.

(5) The View-points - these viewpoints are exotic and interesting. These are: Lion hill, Baboon cliff and Out of Africa.


(6) The Mammals - these include 56 different species such as white rhinos.

The best time to be in Kenya for safari to experience the diversity in wildlife is during the annual migration of millions of wildebeest, zebra and others travel through the Mara plains with predators close behind. Lamu is one a travel destination in Kenya. It was born over 1000 years ago with multi-cultural intermarriages of Arabs, Africans, Persians and the Indians. The destination is mostly known and uniquely identified for its cultural festivities that occur annually in respect to the Swahili/Arabs culture.

The place is diversified and has places that are interesting to stay during the visit. Lamu can only be accessed by water thus a lot of boat riding is encountered which is a lot of fun!

One of the best places to visit is the Kiwayu and Manda beaches that have a lot of beauty and interesting stuff. These beaches have airstrips that would make easy alighting of passengers. Manda has a beach restaurant, Diamond beach Village, library and bar which is fun to be there.
