The Mara Serena Safari Lodge - Ultimate place for Lodging!
Secreted deep within the Masai Mara National Reserve, the Mara Serena Safari Lodge is the ultimate safari destination. Set high on a bush-cloaked hill, embraced by arcing vistas and washed by a sea of richly rolling grasslands, it stands centre-stage to one of Africa's most dramatic wildlife arenas and has a ringside seat for the greatest wildlife show on Earth, the legendary migration of the wildebeest.
Drawing its inspiration from the traditional Maasai cultural motif of a cluster of domed, mud-coloured huts encircled by a "Boma" of brushwood, the Mara Serena offers a rare blend of raw African splendour and sumptuous sophistication. The essentially ethnic décor also draws on a vibrant colour-palette of sun-burst colours, embellished by a unique selection of Maasai art to create the look and feel of a traditional bush encampment. The lodge features individual rooms, each with their own balcony and view of eternity, a sky-blue swimming pool and a spectacular restaurant, overlooking a water hole where a fantasia of creatures collect to drink.

When to travel to Kenya for Safari - the best seasons of all!
Are you planning for safari in Kenya? I bet this is an interesting activity that would leave you in a lot of excitement.
The best time to be in Kenya for safari to experience the diversity in wildlife is during the annual migration of millions of wildebeest, zebra and others travel through the Mara plains with predators close behind. The best season to see this is during the months of July to October. Other parks in Kenya are also excellent and the best time to visit these would be during the dry seasons that is; January through March and July through October.
The great annual migration of millions of zebra, wildebeest and other antelope in East Africa tops almost every list of safari experiences. When you plan your trip, you'll need information about the annual migration, the best times to witness this wildlife spectacle, where to stay, and when to see it in Kenya and Tanzania.
This clip shows the migration of the wildebeest.
With the lack of enough water during the dry seasons, the animals tend to gather in more high numbers around permanent water holes, rivers and lakes, so they are easier to find. The vegetation is also less lush which simply means that viewing animals from a distance is easier. For more information contact Mara

The review on Original Greystoke Mahale
This is a review on Greystoke Mahale Camp where the webmaster asserts that "Mahale is an evolutionary triumph, where the clock seems to have stopped early, at the right time. For man - part fish, part forest animal - it couldn't be more sublime".
Of course its one of the interesting places to be in since"...... there are few places left on earth that might rightfully be called Eden, and the Mahale Mountains is one of them". The place is described by the mountains soaring to 8,000 feet above the clear waters of Lake Tanganyika. This camp is located at 420 miles long and 30 miles wide along the inland sea. The camp's nearest road is almost 100kms away.
The camp lies behind the slopes of the Mahale Mountains where its the home to the world's largest known population of chimpanzees. The Chimpanzees are usually observable when going out into this deep and magical forest.
"Mahale is a physical place, but strangely undemanding. Perhaps because it seems to have been created for Great Apes; figs, flowers, sun, shade, water"...says the webmaster.

Camping in Winter - Stuff you need
Camping in winter can be extremely challenging for campers. Today we are gonna look at the techniques and the things we need in order to make camping in winter an enjoyable activity.
Below are the stuff you need for Winter Camping written by Bill Revill - on ways to improve your camping lifestyle. These are:
" (a) Warm clothing, which might include jackets, pullovers, thermal underwear, thick socks, beanies, gloves (or mittens), scarves, overcoats, and waterproof footwear.
(b) Extra bedding, such as sleeping bags rated for, say, minus 10 degrees. Alternatively, throw in a couple of good (woollen) blankets for each person to wrap around their sleeping bag. (Large safety pins can be handy here.) Also, a sleeping bag liner made from a surplus flannelette sheet is a great idea for chilly nights in the bush.
(c) Aboveground beds are much better than airbeds or mattresses laid out on cold ground. The “springrest” style stretcher is the best you’ll find, but other types of camp beds will do the job, just so long as they keep you up off the deck.
(d) A groundsheet is useful, spread over the tent floor, since in winter there’s higher probability thatmoisture (or rain) will find its way inside at some stage. Quality canvas is by far the most robust material for groundsheets.
(e) Newspaper finds a few extra jobs around winter campsites, like fire starting, extra insulation between stretcher and mattress, and…well, reading when the wet weather sets in!
(f) A campfire becomes the centrepiece of your camp after sunset, since the winter chill can settle over the countryside pretty rapidly, particularly in mountain areas. This means that you will have to take along a couple of bow saws, or better yet, a small chainsaw. That pile of firewood needs to be substantial!
(g) Extra awnings are important, too, since there may be times when everyone is crowded under cover during rain -- or snow! Rig up one or two tarpaulins -- using rope, tent poles, elastic straps, and tent pegs -- with the main living area handy to the warmth of your campfire. (But don’t have an awning closer than two meters to the fire’s edge.)
Depending on your destination, you might also give some thought to the possibility of snow and mud on the tracks and roads in and out of the area. These scenarios are highly likely, for example, when camping in mountainous terrain.
Snow chains could therefore be worthwhile insurance, as might jumper cables, towrope, even perhaps a small hand winch. Improvised traction aids in the form of heavy rubber mats have proved useful at times, too. And since most cars these days already have anti-freeze coolant in the radiator this shouldn’t require extra preparation"
Thanks for stopping by and please give your suggestions and comments. All the best.

Review on - Africa is hot for holiday romance
The blog elevates South Africa as a better spot for holidays and romance. "The continent is increasingly being associated with luxury and romance. The rich and famous often spotted cavorting at exclusive game reserves and five star beach front restaurants around Southern Africa have helped position the region as the latest “hot spot”. Celebrity couple Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt spent their honeymoon in Namibia, while Tiger Woods proposed at a private game reserve in South Africa’s Eastern Cape, and Prince Harry met his girlfriend at a swanky bar in Cape Town." the blogger says.
In fact Africa has the best wildlife, game resorts, beaches that any tourist would desire to see and be fascinated by them. This gives Africa - South Africa a better spot for romance and travel. Generally Africa as a continent has what it takes to tourism and international travel.....more

PART 3 - How to have an effective camping......
Today we are on the last phase on having an effective camping. Its my believe that always when going for camps we always anticipate to have the best of our moments to linger in our minds.
As we continue on this topic I guess there are a lot of things and basic items that we need to put together for successful camping events ahead of us. Otherwise I have just given them in summarized format so as to leave a room for more research. However, the few other basic things we need are:
(f) Lighting
We need to have light for clear visibility especially at night. Lighting in form of spotlights would be of great assistance in times of need. Depending on the camping site it would assist in answering the nature of call during the night so as to be able to see the tent's entrace well enough. So all in all there should be good lighting system carried with you to avoid inconveniences at night or in dark areas.
(h) Campfire
This is one of them most enjoyable event in camping. If need for campfire arises, then there is need for carrying along with you firelighters, charcoal or firewood for use. Firewood may be collected or proper arrangements should be made prior to arrival in the camping site.
A lot of care should be taken heed when lighting fire such as the direction of wind in order to avoid fire accidents.
If need for cooking arises great care should be taken especially when roasting food stuff such as meat, potatoes e.t.c. Mesh would be of great help in roasting meat since it serves the purpose effectively.
All in all make sure that the tent living area is tidy and spacious enough in order to allow storage of items carried along with you such as - cooking equipments, mobile fridge if need be for keeping food fresh, outdoor gear such as boots, rucksacks, coats e.t.c
(g) Emergencies Handling Kits and Measures
Campers should be prepared to handle emergencies and have right and proactive measures to deal with such emergencies such as - bad weather, illness, allergies, discomforts e.t.c - there would be need for first aid kit carried along with you.Carry all the necessary cooking utensils needed for cooking process to be enjoyable.
Thanks for stopping by and in case of queries, opinions, suggestions feel free to contact me. All the best in your camping activity!

PART 2 - How to have an effective camping......
Yesterday we talked on the basic needs and requirements for having an effective camping. Today we are still gonna go further on this topic. I guess we need to have clues and ideas on what we need on camping. The other things we need are:
(b)Equipments.
We need to know what equipments we need to carry along with us. We need to decide either to hire, borrow or buy depending on the budget allocated for it. The lower the costs the better so as to make the process and activity affordable.
(c)Tent
Tents can be hired, borrowed or bought according to the budget set. Its advisable to get the tent that will meet the needs and the demand of the campers. Tents are of different shapes, sizes and costs.
Tents should have good and adequate ventilation so as to serve the occupants effectively.
Good tents should also be easy to erect since some tents might have a lot of complications in erecting them. Getting easily erectable tent is better since it would save time and costs that would have been involved in hiring the tents specialist.
(d) Sleeping bag
There is need for sleeping bag that will serve effectively. Chances are if you don't own one just need to buy, hire or borrow so long the budget set for camp is met.
(e)Cooking
Depends on your budget and the type of camping you wish. Some would wish to cook while others buy food from canteens and shops around the camping site. If need for cooking arises be prepared to carry all the necessary equipments for cooking.
I guess we have tackled a few other things and basics that we need to have effective camping. For today let us stop there. Otherwise we will continue tommorrow on the other things that we need. Thanks for stopping by and all the best!

PART 1 - How to have an effective camping...
Camping is an interesting and intriguing activity. However, there is need to know the basics of camping in order to have an enjoyable one. At times if camping is not fully organized it might end up in being a boring activity.
Have you been to camping and enjoyed it or end up bored? I guess its either way. In this summarized post we are going to discuss and point out basic needs and preparations we need in order to have an excellent camp.
Today will look at the first important and basic preparation that we need.
Assess the Camp Area
The first step is assessing the camping site and booking in advance in order to avoid disappointments. Its very important to know the place before going to it.
This makes it easier to know whether the basic facilities are available such as toilet, shower, fresh water for use.
Its important to have these basic facilities in the camping site since they are very valuable and usable in our daily lives. Of course we need fresh water, we need to bathe, we need toilets and much more.....
I guess we have the hint for now. So when going for camping I guess this will be the first thing to look into. Otherwise lets stop there for today. Do you have any comments, suggestions, opinions? Will be grateful for them. Have a nice day and thanks for stopping by!
